1/ How to integrate & automate with ChatGPT + Zapier

One of our limitations as 'non-developers', is we can't just write APIs to connect our applications.

Middleware integration and automation platforms have existing for years (Zapier, Make, IFTT etc)

Their biggest limitation?

You've got to know how to build a workflow. I.e you've got to know what the step-by-step is.

But what if you could simply ask AI to create the workflow for you?

And what if it saved you the cost of a developer?

In this tutorial, we'll be using the ChatGPT Zapier plugin to create a workflow.

Step 1 - Create a Zapier account

Head over to Zapier and sign up or start free

Step 2 - Install the ChatGPT Plugin

[NOTE - You need to be a Pro user to use the Plugin]

Go into the GPT-4 model drop down. Click plugins -> then go to the store -> then search for Zapier.

Step 3 - Outline the workflow you want to create

You'll need to make sure that the Zapier plugin is enabled before you do this (you can see the tick box in the above image.

I won't paste the entire prompt here as you'll be able to see them in the images below.

But there's a few things to highlight in the way we're prompting.

1. You need to reference using the Zapier plugin in the prompt, otherwise it may not be activated

2. 'Create a Zap' is the output we're wanting

3. Requesting any points to clarify before ChatGPT proceeds is an excellent way of ensuring better outputs

Step 4 - Confirm and create the Zap

When you click the link 'Confirm and create this Zap' you'll be taken through to Zapier to complete the workflow.

You'll need to ensure all of the relevant accounts are connected to Zapier (Stripe, Slack etc)

You can then go on to test.

It's important to remember that the workflows that are created may not be perfect every time, so a little experimentation may be required.

And as always, if ChatGPT got something wrong, or the Zap it produced isn't what is expected / doesn't work. Continue the chat until you get the output you require.
